Pictured above, is NOT Oliver, this is his dad, Boomer. However, when I came across the picture today I couldn't believe how much he looks like his handsome dad now. Oliver turned 1 yesterday, but doesn't have me fooled into believing he's anything but a puppy still. We sung to him yesterday on his actual birthday, but due to a busy day didn't "celebrate" much. So today, while I was out, I purchased some cow hooves for him and Sophie as a special birthday treat.
Oh boy, can I just say that these things are SO NASTY! I have been trying to get them bones that are tougher than a rawhide, because they can literally down a 12 inch rawhide in 20 minutes. I don't like them consuming all of that rawhide so quickly and as a result I have switched to chews that are actually like "real bones", that's the only thing that will actually last long. So, I thought I would give these hooves a try since they looked very hard. Well, I quickly regretted my choice when they started to chew them because they smell like (for a better choice of words) poop! There is no other way to describe it. So I have been trying to keep them in the other room while they are chewing on these things. Yuck! I do not recommend purchasing these! At least they're happy...
It's hard to believe Ollie has been in our lives for so long, but yet it seems like just yesterday we brought him home. He is truly a special dog. Even though he may be the most ornery dog I have ever met, he is the sweetest at the same time. What a great playmate he has become to our beloved Sophie, even though there are moments when he is also a bother to her...isn't that what brothers are for? It's amazing to look back at the things this clumsy pup has already endured...i.e.: panocytosis (rapid growth disorder as a puppy), ripping a toenail right out (it has grown back now!), and all of the head injuries he acquires from running full speed into things. He is quite the clown and definitely completes our little family. We love you Ollie!
