Mele Kalikimaka

Okay, I'm sure that I spelled that completely wrong, but this phrase is what we learned about in my kindergarten class today! We have been traveling around the word, for our Holiday unit and today we stopped in the Pacific Islands. We learned about their culture, Christmas celebration, and how to say Merry Christmas in Hawaiian (Mele Kalikimaka). We maid leis out of yarn, beads, cut up colorful straws, and paper cut flowers. They thought they were really fancy and they laughed very hard when each was finished I would put it over there head and say "Welcome to Hawaii". They also loved listening to Bing's version of Mele Kalikimaka.

We have our big Holiday Program tonight...wish us luck! Pictures to come...
