BACK

I have been on quite a journey this summer and I can happily say it all ended WELL, thanks to a bit of faith.

We started off the summer with the crazy process of purchasing a new home and then getting settled...then quickly my sights were switched to focusing on a job. Since my position last year was a year-long maternity leave, I wasn't guaranteed a job in Carmel and with the current economic situation, over 20 teachers in the district were RIF'ed (let go due to cut backs for the non-teacher folk). So, there was a list of 20+ that had to be re-hired back and then there was a list that I was on following that. Literally two weeks ago I was called to come in and interview for a semester long maternity leave in Kindergarten at an elementary school in Carmel and then found out a day later I got the job! I was very excited, but kind of feeling down that I wouldn't have my own classroom and that I would be doing things someone elses way, but then I realized I just needed to be grateful for even having a job. The next morning as I headed in to school to meet my team, I was called by the principal and told that I would be now doing an alternating day Kindergarten position, which is part time, Monday-Wednesday-and half day's on Friday. I quickly jumped at this because it would be MY own and I would have a contract, even if it were part time. However, she told me that numbers were high and if things got really crazy we might have to open another section of Kindergarten. As soon as I heard this, I clung to this thought and did nothing but pray and keep the faith. I knew that if anyone could make this happen, God could and that he had placed me in this spot for a reason. For the past two years I have been a bit miffed by the fact that I have been trying to get a full-time, contracted position and it just hasn't happened...so I figured that I needed to keep the attitude that now was my time, I had the favor...that I had waited this long, in this district for a reason. Before I knew it, I was setting my room up for the alternating day position and no sooner did the principal call me over the intercom down to her office. I literally sprinted there-because I was just hoping to hear the news I had been praying for. Sure enough! They had such high numbers they had to open the 4th section of Kindergarten and there I was. How amazingly that fell into my lap. So needless to say, I have been working myself to death in the classroom getting it perfect for my wonderful little students and had a GREAT first week, minus a few minor hiccups, which have since been dealt with :)
I couldn't feel more blessed and am SO excited to be a contracted, full time Kindergarten teacher now! Thank you for all of your prayers and support, they have been much appreciated.
I promise to be a more faithful blogger and to keep you all in the loop!
