Memorial Weekend Part 1

Its 9 am, on a beautiful Sunday morning and I can sense the excitement in the air this morning. Why? Because today is the Indianapolis 500! Sadly, I don't get to go this year...Howard is going with his brother Nathan and brother-in-law, Doug. I feel though, that if we live in Indianapolis, I should surely take part in such Hoosier activities. So next year, we are going to go to Carb Day, The Parade on Saturday, and the RACE on Sunday! The whole town has checkered flags in their yards and just everywhere, we even saw an Indy car driving down the streets of the city last night after we got done eating...it's racing fever! Well, I hope Howard has fun today and that he doesn't get TOO sunburned, I sent along some sunscreen, but we know how that will go! I'm rooting for Helio!

Yesterday we began working on things around the house again. We went to Target and Lowes in the morning and stocked up. At Target we purchased some cushions and an umbrella for our table, I will have to get a picture of that. It finally looks all put together and the dogs really enjoy the shade the umbrella provides.
Howard started working on the hardwood floors and I started to prime the fireplace. We decided to paint the fireplace brick because it was really dusty and just kind of dark in color. I really don't mind the color, but we just thought a lighter color might make the room look more spacious and updated. Plus, I would have been bored all day while Howard worked on the floor, right?! So here is a before picture of the fireplace...

Also, please enjoy the bandana on my head. Yes, it is Sophie's but I had to put something over my hair to keep the paint out. I literally was covered from head to toe in primer...since it is so thin it seems to go everywhere! And of course, Oliver wouldn't sit still for a photo.

This is what the dogs did all day while we worked...snoozed on their beds which were confined to the kitchen so they would stay out of trouble!

And here is the finished product...all primed and ready for the Boardwalk color, which reminds me a lot my parents walls. It's amazing how much it already brightens up the room, even though we won't be keeping it white. It also looks and feels a lot cleaner! Stay tuned...
