Stop. Rewind.

I feel as though I've been distant to the blogger world lately, but it's not because I've been busy doing things, just busy watching DOGS. That's right, last Thursday they got their surgery and ever since I've been babysitting them, trying to make sure that they don't wrestle too hard or jump up too high, etc. Well I couldn't have been happier with them until...TODAY! I was sitting at the computer this morning, checking emails and they were next to me slightly wrestling. I looked down and blood caught my eye! I immediately freaked! It of course was coming from Sophie, (she's my problem child) and it looked as though a few of her stitches had popped. I was screaming and trying to get her to sit still, which wasn't working too well. I really don't do well with bloody, potentially gaping wounds if you couldn't tell already. I kept trying to call the place where we had her spayed, and the phone kept ringing and ringing (later I realized they are closed this week for vacay). After about 15 minutes I checked it again and it was no longer oozing blood and looked better. It appeared actually that perhaps a top layer of stitches had come apart? It has been almost a week since the stitches have been in, so I think we're OK. I have been monitoring it all day and making her lay down for the most part. I really hope the incision only looks better from here on out! Phew...
Anyways, I needed to stop and rewind, because it's nearly the middle of the week and I have neglected to talk about all that has happened in between (for all of you who are keeping tabs on my ever-so-exciting life).
On Friday night, I met up with two of the girls who were in most all of my Early Childhood classes back at EIU, at Buca Di Beppo in downtown Indy. It was great to see the two of them again! They had been at Camp Kindergarten, which was led by Dr. Jean, a well known woman in the teacher world. However, we're currently on bad terms because I've had enough of the Tooty Ta! haha Congrats to BLANG who was recently married!

On Saturday, we worked around the house again. I was busy working on the front room which I painted a new color and am still finishing up with the trim! Pictures to come...

It was also very fun to hear about all of the events unfolding while my family was up in Omaha, Nebraska over the weekend to celebrate my cousin Chris and his new wife, Abby's, marriage at a reception they had. Poor Allie was injured, resulting in stitches-we were feeling her pain and praying for her back in Indy! She looked awfully cute in her wheel chair though!
We were also able to go out to dinner with my friend, Whitney, and her husband Saturday night at the Kona Grill, which we LOVE and is within walking distance of our home. I hadn't seen her or really been able to have a good convo with her since teaching at Orchard Park together, so it was nice to catch up! We plan to get together again soon!
On Sunday, we went to church and then did a bit of grocery shopping at Trader Joe's before heading home. We were kind of lazy all day and ended the day by cooking out, while enjoying the beautiful evening. The weather here has been lovely the past week or so, and I'm very thankful to get a break from the humidity!

On Monday, I had another interview! YES! It is so great to get those calls! It was for an elementary school around 20 miles away and for a third grade teacher or a kindergarten maternity leave for the first half of the school year. The principal was awesome and made me feel completely comfortable. We talked and I was at ease, not nervous at all! Hooray...this is an accomplishment for me! The neatest part of all has to do with the picture above. Right above the table where he interviewed me in his office hung this painting by Renoir A Girl With A Watering Can. This picture is special to me because it hangs in the entryway to my grandparent's house from the garage, and I've always liked it. They used to say it reminded me of them when I was little because of the blonde hair and blue eyes. It was just so weird to see this painting, because I rarely do, and it immediately reminded me of Gram and helped calm me. Thank you God. I won't find out anything until later next week, so please pray for me, however after having that moment, I know I'm in good hands.
This upcoming Thursday I have my last PRAXIS exam at 6:30 am and then lunch with my friend Jill and a teacher who I loved from Orchard Park. Then, the excitement continues as my parents roll in to town later that evening...I'm already getting hungry for Red Robin, which Shelb has requested! They will stay all weekend and then we are having some of Howard's family over for the Fourth!
Have a great week and safe Fourth of July!

With tears in my eyes now....I think it was a sign from Gram having that picture of the little girl sitting by the table during your interview. WOW! Prayers are in order!

"Girl With a Watering Can"--a special favorite...and as soon as I saw it...I hoped YOU remembered. What a very sweet remembrance--and I'm happy that it was a confidence builder during your interview. Gram lives on every single day in our memories and in who we are. Love you sweetie! Oh, and you too, Howie :) and Ollie and Soph :) Happy Independence Day!!!
