The pups successfully made it through surgery and are recovering quite well at home. They both slept the entire ride back, which is an unusual instance in the car (usually they are licking/pressing noses to the windows, panting, heads out the windows)...so I knew they must be aware that they did in fact have surgery. Their eyes were a little blood shoot and when Sophie got out of the car, she kind of walked in a zig-zag...she would so not have passed a sobriety test.
They immediately found their beds and laid there for most of the night. Ollie had his random bouts of wanting to play, but I quickly nixed this.
Their incisions look great and are small, which made me happy. Ollie now has a uni-ball, and seems to be almost unaffected by the surgery and Sophie has been moping around like she just lost a child. She keeps coming up to me wanting extra affection, poor girl.
I was a bit worried about today, because Ollie woke up in great spirits and tried to play at 6:30 am, so I knew it might be a long day of reprimanding him. However, he has been pretty lax and they both have been anchored to their beds for the most part. Except for the time when Ollie thought he should lay next to me as I painted near the window and covered his back in Boardwalk paint, lovely!
As far as the lamp shade collar goes, I couldn't bear to put Sophie in it, so I tested it out on Oliver instead. I laughed so hard and quickly had to grab the camera...!
More from the sick pups later!

So funny. It's kinda sad to see those cone collars on a Basset b/c they drag on the floor b/c the dog is so short! haha.
So they only took one of Ollie's balls?
I don't get why they only take the one?? So he still looks like a boy?
Is that a new way to neuter?
Glad to hear all went well with your babies. J.
Was that voice echo what Ollie was hearing inside his cone?
