Going Under the Knife

Poor Sophie and Oliver, the time has now come to get them spayed/neutered and little do they know it, but it's happening this Thursday! I have been struggling to find a vet I really like here in Carmel, because quite frankly, I don't know where to start! There are so many to select from, that my head is spinning! There is anything from a farm vet to a vet that has flat screen TV's in each kennel...I need something in the middle! I do take them currently to a place near our old apartment, but I don't think it is their forever vet home. So I searched for a place where I thought I might have them spayed/neutered at and got a quote from this particular vet. Well, lets just say to have them both done, it would be around $1,500! I about died, as I had not envisioned it costing this much. I mean I had been realistic (or so I thought) when budgeting around $500 for this...but nearly triple this? I had to get in research mode and find another alternative! Luckily my friend Jill (who is from the area) recommended a few places which charge drastically cheaper! The place where I ended up going with is a non-profit organization in Hamilton County and works in part with the Humane Society. I am thankful that we can help out such an organization and not have to break the bank (thank you Lord).

Pictured above is a Weimaraner (not one of mine) wearing the latest fashion in post-surgery attire...the Elizabethan Collar! Lovely right? I can't wait to see my gray babies in one of these and how quickly they find a way out of it! Don't worry, pictures to come my friends. Please pray for Sophie and Oliver as they undergo their first major surgery! I know they are just dogs after all, but I might shed a few tears leaving them alone at the doggie hospital. Don't worry, I will have ice chips a-plenty and fluffy little beds waiting for them upon their return!

My goodness, the photo scares me a bit.... you are such a wonderful mommy to them. but let me just say, yeah, vets are expensive. Have you checked into animal insurance? My friend in NYC got an unexpected bill when his cat got sick last year - 4000!!!
I know they will be just fine, kiss from auntie Jenny and baby Noel
