Poor Baby!

My poor little Oliver is not doing too well and it's been quite the shock to our little family. He was fine all weekend and then Sunday night he began to limp around a bit. Carefully watching him, the next day he seemed a bit better, but when I got home from work he was limping badly and shaking. Worried about his shivering, I took him to a vet nearby and got very interesting news! He had a fever of 105! Now let me just say, dogs have a higher natural body temp, a normal temp for a dog is 103...so while it was high, it wasn't as scary as it would be in a human. After examining his legs, the vet said he could possibly have a bone disease, called Pano, for short. Long story short, it could affect him from a week to a few months and come in spurts. It is an extreme pain for him, kind of comparable to growing pains, but multiplied. It is common in large breed, male dogs, and isn't anything that he "caught" or could have been prevented. It is just so sad, he groans and moans and looks in pain. He is on a doggy version of Advil and is definitely getting spoiled. He has a little sick bed up on the couch and hasn't really moved much. It makes me almost cry to see him in this state since only a few days ago he was zooming across the room with my Uggs in his mouth. Ornery as he was, I truly miss it! The grass isn't always greener! Please keep Ollie in your prayers that he will soon recover!
