Farmers Market

We started out with a juicer from Target and after it wasn't keeping up to speed, took it back and went for the big guns, a Breville. It is pretty heavy duty and has been working quite well. This morning, we went to the Farmer's Market in Carmel and stocked up on some fresh salad, salsa, brocolli, snap peas, homemade pasta noodles, pasta sauce, and peonies just to name a few. We bought a large bag of apples and made apple juice! Of course, it is not like what you would find in the store, and tasted more like cider. Despite its different taste and look, I enjoyed it and knowing how much healthier it is, will continue to juice apples for juice. Howard made a juice consisting of apples, pears, and strawberries. It looked pretty good too!

The not-what-you'd-find-in-the-store apple juice! We purchased a set of glass containers to store our juice in, while in the refrigerator.

The usual scene whenever Howard is juicing...waiting for something to drop! (Don't worry though people, we know what fruits and veggies are null and void, Sophie today decided she loves snap peas! Weird!)
Now that I am out of school, I am going to be looking for more recipes for juices and vegan recipes. We have been sticking to our breakfast diet of whole grain cereal, rice milk, and fresh squeezed OJ. No complaints on that meal. I can't even taste the difference in the milk and the juice is so much better!
Now on to lunch...what's recommended is mostly leafy greens (salads), pita wraps, etc. I will collect some recipes/ideas and share!
