Howard and I are embarking on a new journey, going mostly Vegan. Yipes! The thought of this dramatic lifestyle change makes me feel like I'm jumping off the edge of a cliff, but I know it's a must with the way our society is going. The quality of food and healthcare in America is nothing less of SCARY and I would like to make a proactive change for myself, and get on a healthy track before we bring kiddos into the world. The diet is called the Hallelujah Acres diet, http://www.hacres.com/
It is basically eating 85% raw, uncooked and unprocessed plant based food and 15% cooked-plant processed food. We are going to ease into it slow. Starting this weekend by attacking the breakfast portion. The menu:
-small glass of juiced orange juice (hand juiced using oranges, no added sugar, etc.)
-whole grain cereal
-almond or rice milk on the cereal
There are other great recipes for smoothies, oatmeal, etc. but I usually just eat cereal every morning so this should do me well.
I will keep you posted as we continue on our journey into the world of Vegan. I am so not one of those hippie/green/hanging out paper towel to dry/earthy people...but I do want to make a difference for my body. Truth is, I have been feeling pretty icky lately with the foods I consume, and I want to make a change.
Here are some Healthy Living Tips, FYI...
-A cup of broccoli has as much calcium as a glass of milk.
-Enzymes are the most fragile nutrient and they are the first to be lost in the cooking process.
-Parsley is a stress buster and studies have shown it to be effective in reducing depression, lowering cholesterol, and strengthening kidneys.
-Pomegranates are loaded with disease fighting antioxidants.
-Brocolli is one of nature's most potent super foods and has almost twice as much protein as steak.

This from the one who has only recently learned to eat salad. Good for you two. I'm sure you will feel better. It's hard to find the time and keep the goods at hand when on the go 24 - 7. Good luck
Can't wait to catch up with you guys next weekend.
