I purchased new mirrors (on each side of the couch, pictured) to fill up the walls, without having to put more art work in the room, making it too busy. I really loved the mirrors, Target of course, and they are called Black Piano. They aren't black, but are espresso, with a wood grain pattern...very fun. I searched everywhere yesterday for the mirrors...Hobby Lobby, World Market, Tuesday Mornings, The Home Store, and finally Target. I got them home and they fit perfect on the walls, but I didn't like how they looked next to the dark chocolate brown curtains. So I drug Howard back out with me last night to a few places to search for a lighter curtain with some sort of pattern. Sadly, I didn't find anything at all. Today I was going to head out to Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, and Drapery Street, but I really didn't want to spend more money on curtains when I just recently bought the ones I had hanging up. I kept thinking about a cloth shower curtain I used to have hanging in the upstairs bathroom. Since I just had redone the bathroom it was now tucked away in the closet, probably never to see the light of day again. I know it is probably "not-allowed" in most people's minds to use a cloth shower curtain as a window hanging, but I loved the pattern in it, which is sometimes hard to find in regular curtains (believe me, I searched!). I couldn't use them solo however, because they were too short for my windows. So, I decided to use them as an inner panel to just "light" up the window area...taking away from some of the dark brown color. I only had one shower curtain of course, so I folded it in half and cut it down the middle. All I had to do was put the edge that was cut, closest to the brown drape, so that it blended in without seeing the cut edge. A no-sew project! It all worked out nicely, and I am happy with how it looks, for zero dollars!
Now all I need for this room to be FINISHED is a chair to go by the fire place. I might pop in to Pier 1 to check out a few I saw online later this afternoon. We didn't end up going to the auction because I decided I needed to finish my current project before I fill our garage with more. That could end up badly! I'll keep watching... :)
