Happy Halloween!

Well, even though we're not technically supposed to celebrate Halloween in school, we kind of did, because I was sure that all of the families in my classroom weren't against it or had any religious objections...so party we did!

Of course, we held this "party" of sorts off until the afternoon, because afterall, you don't want them to go wild all day! We had a normal morning and then introduced a few Friday Fun Centers which included either making the Candy Corn man or a Monster Face. We also read Go Away Big Green Monster, which is a very cute story, and then made Monster Munch. Now, if you have not heard of Monster Munch, it is hillarious! Here's the recipe:

Cocoa Puffs=ant eggs
Candy Corn=rat toes
Chow Mein Noodles=dried worms
Honeycomb=spider webs
(you can also use raisins to be something too, but I forget, and knew my kids wouldn't eat raisins.)
You put all of the ingredients in brown paper bags and label them on the outside. Then you mix them together in a bowl and the kids squirm! They were so excited when I told them we were having a special snack until they heard what it was! After they figured it out, they were excited to eat it though.

We also watched Spookly the Square Pumpkin and made our Spider headbands, which we wore with our fashionable spider rings on the way out to the bus. They looked very spooky! I am glad that Spider week is over due to my serious phobia of spiders, and I am sick of looking at orange! Welcome pilgrims, indians, and all things turkey to my classroom!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I just love it, very creative and hard working teacher you are. Is your school peanut free?

We are not peanut free-but if the child has a peanut allergy they have a special table at lunch, which of course like 5 or so of their friends can sit with, as long as their lunches pass the "peanut free" requirements. I'm sure it will eventually be PF though.
