The Lodge Look

Ever since visiting the Big Cedar Lodge this summer, I have been overtaken by the desire to have my home mirror the same style. I think I really decided I would go this route when Howard shot his first deer a month or so ago, and Mr. Buck will be gracing our walls early spring...almost forcing me to take this decorative avenue. Our home right now is lovely, but we know updates will start happening in the mid to near future, just to keep up with the housing curve. Since we plan on staying here for 10 years (almost one already down, yipes!), we think it is a must to upgrade the flooring, bathrooms, kitchen etc. So, of course, I am already gathering ideas and planning for what is to come...because what ELSE is there to possibly due? haha... Here are some glimpses of the lodge look that I love...

I love the stonework used around the fireplace and the warm, cozy seating arrangement close to the fire.

The lighting in this room speaks to me, along with the feminine pattern on this wingbacked chair. I think with so many masculine elements, pairing feminine is key.

Not that we will be doing this in our current home, but isn't this grand?

The wooden beams and stonework again, makes this room so fabulous!

This is one of my favorite rooms...very elegant married with the rustic feel...my ultimate goal!

I would love to have something like this hanging over our dining room table. This piece would definitely be traveling with us to our next home!

Another bathroom I love! The mixture of different textures/materials makes it seem so cozy. However, one thing that is missing...a separate water closet! I could never go back...

Stay tuned, as the transformation to this rustic, lodge dream home will be awhile...I am just plotting and planning at this stage. My plan is to lodge-ify our front room, which is to become a den first. Mr. Buck is going to take up residency in that room and I will go from there!

We also love that cozy lodge look. We have a couple of great books, from when we did the basement. Let me know when you are moving forward and I will get them to you. (don't you just love our little Magpie, with her comments! She is more tech-advanced than me!)
