Finished!

After three days of LONG work, I can gladly say we are FINISHED! Yesterday was a loooong day and we really had begun to feel how hard we had been working our bodies yesterday. I spent the majority of the morning driving around looking for the perfect set of pots to grace the front porch. Not an easy task, when you have such a picky wish list! I ended up finding some stunning pots though, I think (Howard is still a little iffy on them...what does he know about "style"???) and took Oliver along for the ride, which he enjoyed! We also had to make a pit stop at Lowe's where I purchased the coolest gardening invention thus far...

After trying to sit on my bottom, knees, squat, etc. I decided I needed to invest in this cool "Garden Rocker". It made planting SO much easier and enjoyable yesterday...I wish I had this the previous day while planting 20+ mini-boxwoods. It rocks forward and back, and mine has a super cute green leaf printed seat cushion...just an added bonus, ha!
After finishing all the planting, we moved on to mulching. We had a whole truckload delivered from a local nursery and Howard showed me the ropes of "mulching". The wind was definitely blowing which made things a bit tricky, but I actually didn't mind it too much. What I did mind was the mulch dust/dirt in my eyes, nose, mouth, and coating on my entire body. YUCK. I definitely had to shower immediately after entering the house.
We finished cleaning up around the house (I even put together a hose reel, I felt accomplished what can I say?!) and then finally put the topiary trees in the gigantic pots. Another daunting task! After a sweep and lots of watering we called it a night. I think at around 8 pm. We worked for probably 12 hours yesterday and the day before...I think I might spend the rest of my Spring Break recovering from this! However, I am very pleased with the finished product and can't wait to see the plants start growing and filling in the empty spaces!

(I am thinking of changing out the pillows, they have a small band of the mustard yellow to match the pots, but I'm not sure it's enough. I have a vision of a pillow in my head-we'll see if I can find them!)

(See if you can spot Oliver in the picture, above)

Great job. It helps to be married to a former landscaper.
