State Fair: Take Two...and more.

My parents came in Friday night and we took them to one of our favorite restaurants in town...Bub's burgers! We especially love this place because if you don't already know, Howard's nick name is "Bub"...so I think he feels like the establishment was named after him. It's right off the Monon trail, so the atmosphere is very casual and fun. A nice place to go when you don't feel like getting all dressed up and such.

Next stop-THE STATE FAIR! Oh boy, was it hot though. The weather man tried to lie and say that it wouldn't be as hot on Saturday as it normally had been, yah right. It was miserable. We tried to go inside the animal barns or 4-H buildings as often as possible to escape the treacherous heat. Pictured below is my Dad with the "World's Largest Boar", it was pretty nasty and I can only imagine how much bacon will be made from this poor little fellow, when he was weighing in at nearly a THOUSAND pounds.

Next of course, we had to see the classic "Largest Pumpkin" which was huge-I'm not sure it would even fit in our Jeep if we wanted to take it home. Again though, it's just amazing to see what the Lord can create and how BIG things can actually be. Our puny store bought pumpkins don't really compare to this gigantic orange thing.

Here are some pictures of the ladies enjoying the fair. Pray for Myranda this week as she starts her home daycare/preschool! She's going to do great things, we are so excited for her!

The two (C)Kathy's and me in the middle waiting for the men to get done looking at landscaping related things. Probably the story of the day.
And lastly, I will end this extremely long post with this picture of a lovely wedding cake, created by HIGH SCHOOLER in 4-H. I couldn't believe some of the cakes they were able to put together. I'm just ticked because this cake is about 100x better than my cake and I had a professional do mine. Maybe next time I'll give the 4-H a ring?
