Change of Plans

Well, Friday I got a call that suprised me and that was unexpected. An assistant principal from an elementary school called and asked me if I would like to come in and interview for a position as an instructional assistant. Now anytime before now I would have hollered out a big "NO!", but with my current situation, not being very happy with subbing, and no other job openings in sight, I said "Ok, I'll come in for an interview". They were all very nice and I felt that it went well, a complete turn around from my last interview, right? It was like a breath of fresh air to actually have an interview like this one after my previous experience. They said they had several candidates for the job and that they would let me know by Wednesday. Well, it wasn't 10 minutes after I got home that I got a call from her saying that they were going to stop the rest of their interviews and that they loved me! She also said that they give preference to their assistants that have their teaching license in the way of open maternity leave positions and teaching positions that open for the following year. That was encouraging and with much thought and prayer-I've decided to accept. Carmel-Clay schools where I will be is considered the best district in the state, so I figure if I have to humble myself to being an assistant for the rest of the year to be able to get my foot in the door for a great position next year, I'm willing to do it! Plus, I won't really mind the 8:30-2:30 pm schedule! I was a bit in confusion on whether to accept or not because there are still some open positions in Greenfield where I put my apps. in at-but like my Dad said, I'd rather stick it out and get into this great school district than teach there in a small town setting where I'd have to beg for pencils and erasers-haha. So I'm excited to see how things unfold with my new job as an assistant to the first grade! It will be filled with fun I'm sure!

Oh and we are also looking for a home now that I know where I will be and have a more steady income. We have found this one near Butler University, right off my favorite street in Indiana-Meridian Street. It's very cute and in a GREAT neighborhood-it just needs some work, which would be fun for us. It would be a great investment due to the fact that the homes around it are selling for double and triple what it's going for. So we'll see. You know I'll keep you all posted!

Congrats on accepting the position. Sounds like a great opportunity, Sarah. Adorable house, too. Gee, are things falling into place? Enjoy this cooler/fall weather. Have you made the pumpkin bars yet? Ha!
