Sweet Tooth...family gene?

I just had to post about this tonight when I got an email not too long ago from my mom, forwarding an email that my grandpa, Bob-Bob, had sent to her and some other family members (P.S. why am I not on that forward list RHR?!). He sent the following photo...

Bob-Bob rarely takes pictures, or sends pictures through email, so you know this must have been an important occasion for him. He won this "candy cake" at an event he was at, and I'm guessing couldn't have been prouder or happier due to his sweet tooth which I have definitely inherited. I laughed out loud when I saw this email because he loves his sweets and loves to keep them to himself as well. I remember growing up Gram would always keep the freezer stocked of a variety of ice cream bars, usually Crunch Bar ice cream bars (so delish) or Blue Bunny fudge sickles-of course, I knew this too, so when I would go over to stay the night or visit, I would always get one for myself. Bob-Bob would always tease me and try to keep me from having one-but I always ended up snacking on one and I knew Gram would have my back. On several other occasions treats he has received have been "hidden", but it's too bad for him we all know where he "hides" them. I remember when he hid his Turtles from my mom, but secretly let me in on where they were...he had to, I'm his granddaughter of course. I also think back on when he recieves peanut brittle or cookies around the holidays-he gets very protective of his treats.

I think this behavior must run in the family, because I am the same way. It could be the fact that we're both only children, but I definitely have a strong love for sweets and feel that if they are limited to me-I must protect them! I'm particularly this way in regard to sour candy...don't even think about it! Well, I sure got a laugh out of this email tonight and can perfectly picture Bob-Bob sitting at home on the couch right about now munching on one of those candy bars-save one for me RHR!

That was great Sarah!! I think I've inherited Bob-Bob's sweet tooth also. :-) Loved the memories you shared.

I look at the picture like that and cannot help feeling so sad..Noel cannot have any of these. Please say a word of prayer for her allergy for us. In her her own prayers, she says : " Jesus will take away Noel's peanut allergy...." Very cute, but sometimes, I cannot help but feeling sad again

Definitely a love of sweets runs in the family. I too, prefer things sour...but I also love Hot Tamales :). Turtles are the fave--Matt has the sweet tooth for those! Chris doesn't like nuts (or didn't used to)--I kindof think he likes the green ones with the chocolate in the middle. Mike loves everything in that centerpiece Bobob won! I too, go through the dance for an ice cream bar...usually we would start eating as soon as Gram went to bed! The very best sweet of all was when Gram would make fudge~~get this, the kind you would make and then beat by hand until it reached the proper consistency. The best fudge ever~~and there was NEVER enough. That was a special treat on Sunday nights watching Disney with apples and popcorn. A very sweet message about your memories of times with Gram and Bobob--thank you for bringing them to mind this morning! Love you :)
