Let's imagine...yesterday I was lying on the couch all afternoon, really feeling quite crappy due to another cold brought on by this sudden weather change, when all I can dream of for dinner is Panera Broccoli Cheddar Soup! Oh, how fab that would feel on my scratchy throat. Luckily, we live about 5 minutes from one, so my dream was in reach and Howard fetched me not a cup, but a BOWL of soup for my supper. Well, the dream ended there. I hadn't had Panera B&C soup for quite some time because I had it SO much previously, that I needed a bit of a break from it, and I had begun to have a bit of a reaction to it, thanks to the lactose.
I didn't even get through three small spoon fulls of the soup before I began to have horrible stomach cramps and couldn't even force myself (as bad as I wanted to) to just down a few more sips because I felt as though I might vomit. I was devastated! My lactose intolerance has become worse and will no longer allow me to eat this lovely soup, just as it did with my Dairy Queen Moolates! Such a shame. However, I guess my body knows what is best. So, from now on, I suppose I will give up my dream of eating this heavenly soup and let someone else crave it...Goodbye Broccoli Cheddar soup, you will be missed!
(PS, I did try Howard's French Onion soup, a more lactose friendly choice, and I liked it! So I can't say my Panera days are over quite yet...)

Sooo sad to hear your favorite soup has made you sick!
have you tried those pills (or whatever) you can take before you eat something that helps with the lactose absorption?? they might work for you.
That bowl of soup looks rather nasty anyway, darlin'. :)
I was also going to mention the lactose pills...I would hate to see you never get to enjoy that soup EVER again!
I'm so sad for you Sar...but, I will do my friendly duty and eat your share for you! Yum! French Onion is VERY delish, though...you'll have it as your new fave in no time! Just leave off the mozzarella!
ask anna about lactaid. that girl can drink a whole cow with that crap.
Thanks dear friends for the medicine advice, however, ask my Mom, I hate to take medicine especially if it is just "masking" the symptoms. If I'm not supposed to drink milk because it does horrid things to my body, I just think sadly I will have to stay away :(
lactose intolerants unite! i think i don't have celiac now though, so i'll take what i can get! xoxo, noonie.
Hi sarah, Hmmm, just me bring sensitive here, if your symptoms get worst, would not hurt to see an allergist and see if you have an allergy rather than intolerance. Very different stories.
I also love the BC soup from Panera, but we can no longer eat there due to the peanut products, so I made my own the other day, maybe you should try that, use the ingredients that you can digest well. Good luck!
