Howard finally got our steal of a microwave up above our oven, which required purchasing a new upper cabinet as well. It was quite the process which I enjoyed watching while baking cookies-but I'm very relieved it's finally up. You never realize how much you use a microwave until you don't have one!
Howard was also very excited about finally getting a fire started in our fireplace. It definitely warmed the room up and gave everything a nice glow! Thanks to Uncle Scott for helping us get set up!
After our Christmas gift exchange, I was inspired by one of the gifts made by Aunt Kim, so I took a trip to Hobby Lobby and decided to make my own creation. It doesn't look as great pictured-but I'm happy with it, and it goes very well in the family room!
We also painted our room the same color as our living room, Pebble Path. I'm having a hard time photographing our room due to the odd lighting. So sorry, no pictures for now!
The rest of this week and weekend I will be embarking on the task of cabinet painting. So our kitchen will soon go from drab, to fab! I'll post pictures as it all develops!

Love your family room update! You need to take a close up pic of the arrangement you made like Kim. I could hardly see it! Also, your microwave & cabinet look nice together.

love your house, looks very warm and inviting! i too am doing the winter/ snowman/mitten theme. i think preschools across america are all doing that! hahaha... i also have a curriculum that is very spelled out week to week which, since i am not a planner, am looking forward too... although, at Next Generation, i did start to like planning the different units a little bit. :)as i come across any cute ideas i will share with you! i did use A LOT of stuff from that kinderbykim site and the dr. jean site. also if you can get a subscription to enchantedlearning.com for 20.00 they have great stuff too... good luck! when do the kids come?
Your family room looks like a pottery barn magizine. Great job. The fire looks very inviting too! Good job guys. Love the arrangement, Sarah. The next pheasant hunt Scott embarks on, we will have to pluck some feathers for you. . .it's much cheaper than the ones at Hobby Lobby!
Love you and miss all 3 of you,
Kim
